NewsCon Edison Media RelationsFor Immediate Release: June 11, 2008 6:10 a.m. CON EDISON CREWS CONTINUE TO RESTORE POWER KNOCKED OUT BY THUNDER STORMNEW YORK – Con Edison said today that the company continues to make steady progress in restoring power to customers who lost service during last night’s severe thunder storm. As of 6 a.m. today, approximately 7,100 customers in Westchester County and 1,400 customers in the Bronx, the two areas most affected by the storm, remain without electric service. At the height of the storm, approximately 18,500 customers lost power. Con Edison crews worked through the night, and will continue working today until power is restored to all customers. The company expects to have electricity back on to the majority of customers by midnight tonight. Among the hardest hit Westchester communities are Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Rye, New Rochelle, and Yonkers. Also affected are the Riverdale and Laconia neighborhoods in the Bronx. The company asks customers to report power interruptions or service problems online at www.conEd.com, or by calling Con Edison’s toll-free customer service number 1-800-75-CON ED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.
